This was an excellent book - one that I hope is used as a textbook in history classes. The author explains the role of the Middle East in World War I and how the peace treaties (which took about 4 years to sign!) set in motion the problems that we face today. The book is thorougly researched but the presentation is "forgiving" (e.g. names and titles are repeated in case you have forgotten - quite helpful to me). The text is a pleasure to read and even humorous in times - and the analysis is insightful and appears to be, to some extent, original. It was both educational and entertaining.
Recommended to all.
