The Normals: A Novel

Author: David Gilbert
Amazon Info

Usually I don't read the Amazon reviews before updating the blog, but today I just happened to read about "The Normals". Whew, I am relieved that there are no readers of this blog, becuase if there were, they really should be looking at the reviews at Amazon - much more insightful. Thus, I will focus on my goal, which is to simply write enough about the book so that I can remember it in the future. Billy Schine, in an attempt to escape the imagine horrors of defaulting on school loans, enters a drug testing facility. The facility is running a test on "The Normals" to make sure the drug being tested does not have too many adverse conditions. Plot ensues, reality bends, ends twist. Overall, amusing and entertaining. I can't comment on Gilbert's use/misuse of metaphors or whether his writing is artificially crafted. I tend to focus on the narrative and let all the description flow right on by.

Recommended: For all, except perhaps literary critics. But check out Amazon for real reviews.
