MRI - #1 - Lumbar/Thoracic

My first MRI experience! Well, on the positive side, they were right on time - no waiting at all. Now that I know an MRI costs about $20K, I can see why they were not busy.

You may have heard about open MRIs and MRIs with video screens. This wasn't one of those. But the people were friendly and I wasn't too worried. I estimated that there was about four inches of clearance between my face and the machine - any less could have been a problem.

I had two images done, I believe they were Thoracic and Lumbar, but I am not 100% certain. Thus the total process took about 40 minutes. The first 1-2 minutes were distinctly uncomfortable, but then I was able to relax a bit. What surprised me was that the machines are really loud - lots of banging going on. What also surprised me was that I was able to turn that banging noise into music that was almost soothing and fell into a near-sleep.

So all in all, it was a pretty good experience.

The results, when they came in, were positive - everything was clean.
