MRA
Today was the MRA to check on the status of my possible AVM (arteriovenous malformation) - good info here. The MRA is like an MRI, except that they inject some dye through an IV during the imaging.
Today's process was a little more involved, as the first MR machine was not powerful enough to do the MRA and I had to be moved (and of course, I was in the MR machine for quite some time before that all got worked out). Then at the second machine, they took quite a few images - more than expected and it went on for a while. I was kind of asleep so I didn't really notice how much time it took. All in all, about two hours spent today actually inside the machine.
So, the open question is: why the extra images? Is it:
A) The first set of images showed nothing so they kept looking?
B) They found something and wanted additional information?
I have no way to know, but I am guessing (B). Feel free to comment. I should have results by Wednesday 2/25, although if they find an AVM I imagine they will call me sooner.
